REDLANDS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Esri, the global market leader in location intelligence, is launching Content Store for ArcGIS, a new web app that simplifies the process of purchasing and integrating commercial satellite imagery. This app, developed by Esri and SkyWatch, allows organizations to buy high-quality imagery from Esri’s cornerstone partner, Maxar, as well as other leading providers. Previously, users had to manage multiple providers and manually import data, but Content Store for ArcGIS streamlines this workflow, making it easier and more efficient.

Preview of Maxar 30cm imagery over basemap in Content Store for ArcGIS

“Content Store for ArcGIS offers a seamless, on-demand experience for accessing premium commercial imagery, right within the ArcGIS platform,” said Richard Cooke, Esri Corporate Director of Global Business Development. “This new experience addresses the challenges our users have shared with us as their use of commercial imagery expands into more and more of their business or mission critical workflows. We believe this will also add significant value to the open imagery sources already available through ArcGIS Living Atlas.”

“SkyWatch is thrilled to partner with Esri to bring Content Store for ArcGIS to life,” said James Slifierz, Co-Founder and CEO of SkyWatch. “Our mission is to make premium geospatial data easily accessible in the broadest range of applications, and this integration with ArcGIS illustrates the power of the SkyWatch Platform. We are excited to support Esri users in enhancing their spatial analyses with high resolution imagery, and other forms of geospatial data to follow.”

In addition to the launch partners, Esri and SkyWatch will be working together to continually add other providers to Content Store for ArcGIS, to give users even greater flexibility to find and acquire the content that best meets the needs of their work.

“We are proud to continue our decades-long partnership with Esri by augmenting the Maxar imagery basemaps already available through ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World,” said Paul Granito, Maxar’s General Manager and Senior Vice President of Enterprise. “We partnered with Esri and SkyWatch to provide Content Store for ArcGIS with access to our most current, very high-resolution imagery to support users who need frictionless access to that data within ArcGIS. We look forward to empowering the geospatial community with our data to enable critical workflows and better organizational decision making.”

Imagery from open datasets such as Landsat or Sentinel is a valuable asset to organizations that use geospatial data in their workflows. But increasingly, users in fields like land management, urban planning, sustainable development, asset risk management, and infrastructure planning need more diverse, up-to-date, higher resolution satellite imagery than ever before. Content Store for ArcGIS eliminates the friction involved in acquiring and integrating this commercial imagery. Instead of navigating multiple provider portals and contracting with each one separately, enterprise data procurement managers can log in and purchase imagery directly within ArcGIS using their existing credentials. This integration not only streamlines the process of acquiring commercial imagery but also complements the extensive data available from ArcGIS Living Atlas and other public repositories, enhancing the overall value and functionality for ArcGIS users.

KITCHENER, Ontario, August 16, 2023 (Newswire.com)SkyWatch, a leader in the remote sensing data technology industry, announced today its partnership with Umbra, a leader in advanced space radar technology. This partnership will allow customers to purchase Umbra’s industry-leading synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data via SkyWatch’s EarthCache platform.

SkyWatch’s core mission is to make remote sensing data accessible, affordable, and standardized. SkyWatch launched the market’s first API for commercial satellite data over five years ago and has served millions of square kilometers of imagery to thousands of organizations worldwide. An early pioneer of transparent pricing in the Earth observation industry, SkyWatch is thrilled to partner with Umbra, which earlier this year released over $1 million of free data via their open data program to help make Earth observation data more accessible and affordable.

“We are thrilled to partner with Umbra to offer SAR to our customers,” says James Slifierz, SkyWatch’s CEO and Co-Founder. “Our mission is to democratize remote sensing data through a simple user experience, and the addition of Umbra to our virtual constellation of over 400 satellites allows us to further enable our customers to solve complex problems with best-in-class commercial satellite data.”

Each microsatellite in Umbra’s commercial constellation is equipped with a powerful SAR payload, capable of seeing at night and through dense clouds to generate the highest-resolution radar images ever sold on the commercial market.

At any given point in time, the majority of the Earth’s surface is experiencing atmospheric conditions that make optical capture challenging, if not impossible. In response to these challenges, SkyWatch also announced today SkyWatch InSARance, an optional composite SAR + Optical product which allows EarthCache Enterprise customers to capture a SAR image of the same area of interest (AOI) of their optical capture. “One of the benefits of SAR is its ability to capture images under all weather conditions. When you’re trying to monitor and respond to critical events with satellite imagery, but it’s a cloudy day, that’s not very helpful,” says David Proulx, Chief Product Officer at SkyWatch. “We want to give our customers confidence that their work can continue, regardless of the weather, and overlaying SAR and optical images ensures a usable capture.”

“SkyWatch was one of the first companies to propel the Earth observation industry into the modern era of web-based, API-first tasking,” says Joe Morrison, VP of Commercial Experience at Umbra. “It’s extremely gratifying to be joining their platform after years of admiring their work from afar.”

Umbra data is available now via the EarthCache platform.

KITCHENER, Ontario, July 26, 2023 (Newswire.com) – SkyWatch Space Applications Inc. (“SkyWatch”), a leader in the remote sensing technology industry, today announced the launch of EarthCache Enterprise, which enables organizations to more efficiently source and manage remote sensing data, with rich insights into data usage, expenditures, and performance.

SkyWatch is well-known for launching the first API for commercial space data, allowing users to access an aggregate source of remote sensing data from the world’s leading providers. Now, SkyWatch’s EarthCache Enterprise solution allows organizations to unify all data assets, including new data sourced through EarthCache, existing data assets, and provider-direct data, into a consolidated user interface for company-wide access and analysis.

EarthCache Enterprise offers a robust feature set to help organizations manage and optimize the procurement and management of remote sensing data through the full data lifecycle, including:

  • Enterprise Archive, which provides a fully-indexed, repository of all remote sensing data across the organization
  • DirectView, which provides one-click image sharing
  • Enterprise Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI)
  • User & Policy Management, which allows administrators to enforce data policies and track project-level spending
  • Enterprise Data Hosting in ArcGIS
  • Multi-source Data Access and Management
  • Professional Services
  • System Monitoring & Support

Forthcoming capabilities include SkyWatch’s upcoming semantic search and image classification product, which classifies and tags data in the Enterprise Archive using AI, and enables users to easily search with plain language terms.

“SkyWatch’s core mission is to make remote sensing data accessible, affordable, and standardized. Since we launched the market’s first API for commercial satellite data over five years ago, we’ve served millions of square kilometers of imagery to thousands of organizations worldwide,” says James Slifierz, SkyWatch’s CEO and Co-Founder. “However, in solving one problem, we discovered another: in order for large organizations to efficiently use Earth observation data at scale, they need a solution that allows them to procure, manage, analyze, and share this data across thousands of employees. Our Enterprise offering results from an extreme dedication to solving our customers’ most pressing problems, and I couldn’t be more excited to announce it today.”

EarthCache Enterprise is available now as an enterprise-wide license on an annual term, and pricing includes credits for data purchases. Eligible customers can take advantage of a one-month paid pilot, which allows cancellation with no further commitment. More information and pricing details can be found at skywatch.com/earthcache/enterprise.

The integration of SkyWatch’s Earth observation (EO) platform, EarthCache, with ArcGIS Pro not only provides a single aggregate source of EO data from the world’s leading satellite and remote sensing operators, but allows users to experience the full capabilities without leaving ArcGIS Pro. SkyWatch’s transparent pay-as-you-go pricing model provides ArcGIS Pro users with the ability to access high-quality satellite imagery directly within ArcGIS, without the requirement to maintain commercial relationships with each data provider. Additionally, ArcGIS Pro users have the flexibility to publish to ArcGIS Online, create tiled basemaps from disparate geo-referenced images, and customize how acquired data is saved, shared, and managed.

“The integration of EarthCache with ArcGIS Pro enables Esri users to more efficiently incorporate satellite imagery into their current workflows,” says David Proulx, Chief Product Officer at SkyWatch. “This integration demonstrates our commitment to making satellite imagery and other types of remote sensing data more accessible. Esri is the global leader in geographic information systems (GIS) technology and location intelligence, and we’re thrilled to partner with Esri to deliver Earth observation data to ArcGIS Pro customers”

The EarthCache for ArcGIS add-in is available now in the Esri ArcGIS Marketplace and at SkyWatch.com.

SkyWatch joined the Esri Partner Network in July 2022.
